CAKE & Ferly Team for Dragon Girl

CAKE and Ferly are working together on the animated action-adventure series Dragon Girl, aimed at kids 6 to 12.

Dragon Girl will be produced by Ferly, previously Kaiken Entertainment and founded by former Rovio executives and co-creators of Angry Birds, and co-produced with Canada’s Yellow Animation. CAKE will co-develop and distribute the series worldwide.

The 26×22-minute series centers on 11-year-old Pandra, a girl born from a dragon egg who is forced to protect her legacy as the last dragon.

Dragon Girl comes on the heels of Ferly and CAKE announcing their collaboration on Kingdom of None and the appointment last year of CAKE’s digital arm Popcorn Digital as Ferly’s digital partner.

Tom van Waveren, CEO and creative director at CAKE, said, “Dragon Girl is an unusual female-led property with an interesting take that caught our attention from the beginning. We are looking forward to working with Ferly and bringing this project to life together.”

Joonas Rissanen, VP of creative at Ferly, said, “A girl born from a dragon egg—that’s such a simple, yet incredibly catchy premise. I can’t wait to start working with CAKE and our joint top team of creatives to show the full depth of this world!”
