ABC’s Chris Rose Joins Beano Studios

LONDON: Chris Rose, commissioning editor for children’s television at ABC in Australia, has been hired by the recently launched Beano Studios in the U.K. as director of development and production.

Rose has been working at ABC since May 2012. During his time with the company, he oversaw the development, commissioning and production of such hit shows as The Deep, Prisoner Zero and Winston Steinburger & Sir Dudley Ding Dong. He previously served as director and then VP of programming and development at HIT Entertainment. Earlier in his career, he was a content and acquisitions manager for CBeebies.

Beano Studios is a new multimedia studio “set up to create, curate and deliver mischievous entertainment for kids worldwide,” according to the company’s website. “Our mission: to make rebellious, funny entertainment across a range of media; TV, digital, theatrical projects, consumer products and the much-loved comic and annual.” Beano Studios is a stand-alone business within the DC Thomson & Co. group of companies.
