TORONTO/HALIFAX: Shaftesbury and Boulevard have started production on the second season of the preschool series The Moblees for Kids’ CBC.

The 20×11-minute sophomore season of the live-action series will be in production in Halifax until December 18 and is slated to premiere next year. The interactive musical-adventure show encourages kids aged 3 to 6 to be active. Each episode features a movement-centric, song-driven adventure that culminates in the awarding of a Moblee Medal, which rewards preschoolers for participating and moving around. The first season currently airs weekdays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 7:15 a.m. on Kids’ CBC.

The Moblees serves up fun, music and physical activity in a colorful way,” said Martin Markle, the senior director of children’s content at CBC Television. “The series strives to instill a love of physical fitness, and Kids’ CBC is proud to bring season two to Canadian children.”

“With its fun, universally appealing approach to healthy, active living and physical literacy, The Moblees has proven to be a hit with young kids and their families, including a live tour this past summer that attracted more than 50,000 at events across Canada,” added Ryan St. Peters, the VP of kids and family at Shaftesbury. “We are thrilled to partner with Kids’ CBC on a second season of the series.”

The Moblees is produced by Boulevard and Shaftesbury in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Ohmland Holdings and William Kohane, and is based on the theatrical production The Ohmies by Laurie Miller and Benjamin Tollefson. The second season is produced with the participation of The Canada Media Fund, The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, Film and Creative Industries Nova Scotia through The East Link TV Independent Production Fund and the Government of Ontario Film and Television Tax Credits, as well as with the financial participation of the Shaw Rocket Fund and the assistance of the Nova Scotia Film Industry Tax Credit. Shaftesbury holds all sales rights for the series outside of Canada.
