TV Kids Summer Festival Preview: Day 1

Day one of the TV Kids Summer Festival features a panel with leading public broadcasters; keynotes from Mattel’s Ynon Kreiz, YouTube Originals’ Nadine Zylstra and ViacomCBS’s Maria Kyriacou; and sessions on inclusivity in kids’ TV and the magic of Sesame Street, featuring the beloved Cookie Monster joined by Sesame Workshop’s Ed Wells.

The first day opens with a powerful session on the importance of public broadcasting, spotlighting the strategies of PBS KIDS’ Linda Simensky, Rai’s Luca Milano, BBC’s Sarah Muller and DR’s Niels Lindberg.

Next up you’ll hear from Ynon Kreiz, chairman and CEO of Mattel and media industry veteran, on how he has stepped up the company’s efforts to capture the full value of its iconic IP portfolio (stay tuned for a sneak peek at Barbie & Chelsea The Lost Birthday immediately following the keynote).

Nadine Zylstra, the head of family, learning and impact at YouTube Originals, will then discuss how she is partnering with top YouTube creators and producers to develop hit original series for the platform.

Maria Kyriacou, the president of ViacomCBS Networks UK and Australia, will share her insights on the company’s thriving kids’ businesses in those markets and discuss its landmark “no diversity, no commission” policy.

In the afternoon, we’re thrilled to feature three executives who are leading the charge to make kids’ television more inclusive: Lion Forge’s David Steward II, Big Bad Boo’s Shabnam Rezaei and Safi Ideas’ Wa’qaar Mirza.

The beloved Cookie Monster closes the day’s agenda in the session The Magic of Sesame Street, which will also feature Ed Wells, executive VP and head of global media and education at Sesame Workshop.
