Spin Master Takes Legal Action Against Mattel in U.S.

Spin Master has filed a lawsuit against Mattel in the Central District of California for patent infringement involving its Bakugan toy.

Spin Master claims that Mattel’s Mecard toys infringe on at least two of its patents associated with Bakugan. Spin Master is accusing Mattel of using its patented technology in its Mecard toys to create dynamic toy transformations. The company is seeking damages and a permanent injunction.

This U.S. litigation is in addition to three other Bakugan-related patent lawsuits filed against Mattel by Spin Master in Canada, Mexico and Australia.

We go to great lengths to protect and enforce our intellectual property against others who try to unfairly capitalize on our innovation. It is unfortunate when our competitors do not respect our intellectual property rights or do not invest in their own innovation.”
