PASADENA: Like Pizza, a new U.S.-based digital media studio formed by former Disney execs Jeff Nuzzi and Bob Spang, has unveiled its first animated project, an action comedy series titled Bunny Rappid.

Bunny Rappid follows the misadventures of a crime-fighting rabbit. Like Pizza has launched a Kickstarter campaign to further fund a series of appisodes that will combine games and serialized animation into one mobile app. A new music video has been released on YouTube featuring the original theme song “Run Bunny Run,” performed by The Bombpops.

Bunny Rappid is due to debut next year on mobile devices for free. Like Pizza also plans to distribute the animated episodes on VOD networks.

“From both my experience in the industry and as a parent, I saw firsthand how kids are consuming both video and games on mobile devices and loved the idea of creating a world around a unique character who launched on mobile first,” said Nuzzi. “Bunny Rappid is a great example of the high level of production quality and effort we are putting into each appisode, and we are so lucky to have the original song ‘Run Bunny Run’ from The Bombpops for our first music video, which illustrates just that.”

“Jeff and I are both huge animation and game fans and loved the idea of blending our industry experiences to create new episodic short-form cartoons and games,” added Spang. “We are extremely proud of Bunny Rappid and its fast-paced comedy full of hilarious characters, stories and environments, and hope that folks will help support the Kickstarter campaign.”

Like Pizza is focused on developing original animated properties across games, mobile, digital platforms and more. Nuzzi previously worked for The Walt Disney Company’s mobile division. Earlier in his career, he served as director of global marketing at THQ Wireless. Spang is a director, writer and animator, and has also voiced a number of animated characters. He spent several years working for Walt Disney Feature Animation as a senior visual designer.
