ProSieben has recommissioned Endemol Shine Germany’s The Masked Singer for another run in 2020.

The German version of the entertainment format has been on air in the country for five weeks now. Its ratings have been increasing on a weekly basis, gaining market shares of 27.1 percent among the 14-to-49 demo.

Endemol Shine Germany CEO Magnus Kastner said: “The Masked Singer is the show-success of the summer! ‘Monster’, ‘Astronaut’ & Co. have conquered the German audience’s hearts and keep breaking new records. This one-of-a-kind show is a mix of music and guessing, delighting all age groups, casting a spell over whole families. On social media as well, people are taking guesses and speculating who is hiding behind the elaborate costumes—none of the celebrities is safe! We are joyfully looking forward to continuing this exciting journey together with ProSieben in 2020, taking audiences to the next level and fascinating them once more with this colorful, mystical show that is The Masked Singer.”

ProSieben’s station chief, Daniel Rosemann, added: “The Masked Singer has exceeded all our expectations. Two months ago, had someone claimed people will be guessing who the ‘Monster’ or the ‘Astronaut’ are, he would have been laughed at. Everyone in Germany is talking about this wonderful TV show—at the office, with friends, online or on social media. This shows the magic of live TV. I am happily looking forward to new, crazy masks next year on ProSieben. A big thank you to the Endemol Shine Germany team for this tender, crazy show.”
