Korean format outfit Something Special has received venture capital funding from DAEKYO Investment and SB Partners to power its next phase of expansion.
The five-year-old venture was founded by Jin Woo Hwang, president and executive producer, and InSoon Kim, executive VP and head of content, and is home to formats such as Unforgettable Duet, recently optioned in Australia, and Battle in the Box, optioned in 23 territories.
DAEKYO Investment manages a DAEKYO K-Contents Scale Up Fund to help small and medium-sized Korean content companies. It is the lead investor in Something Special’s funding round, with SB Partners providing supporting capital.
