The Israeli-based global studio SIPUR and Ukraine’s Heroes Formats have teamed up for the new cooking competition series SUPERmarketCHEF.

The fast-paced SUPERmarketCHEF celebrates delicious and simple meals prepared by home cooks from diverse cultures. Recruited at neighborhood supermarkets, unsuspecting shoppers must suddenly audition to become national culinary stars.

Zipi Rozenblum, head of unscripted formats for SIPUR, and Pavel Cherepin, co-founder of Heroes Formats, also revealed that the project from the two war-torn nations will serve as the first series under a new, non-scripted co-development and co-production pact between SIPUR and Heroes. Heroes is presenting the format to potential buyers at this week’s MIPCOM on behalf of SIPUR.

Rozenblum said, “This partnership between SIPUR and Heroes stems from our mutual love of this project, respect for each other and our complementary creative abilities, as well as our successful track records in this space and, sadly, the common bond we now share by seeing our two nations torn apart by the brutality of evil forces.”

Cherepin added, “Out of these dire circumstances, we hope to bring some much-needed light to the world with SUPERmarketCHEF. It is so entertaining, addictive and fun and hits on a universal theme that cuts across all cultures: our stomachs and shared desire for delicious, home-cooked, economical food served by the best chefs in the world–everyday home cooks.”
