Viacom International Studios (VIS) has landed the first-ever adaptation of the reality dating format Finding Prince Charming, which has been licensed to RTL Germany for TVNOW.

This marks VIS’s first format deal with TVNOW, the recently launched stand-alone streaming service of RTL. The local series, which is renamed Prince Charming for the German market, will be produced by independent production company Seapoint. The German series is set to premiere exclusively on RTL’s streaming service TVNOW later in the year.

First launched on Viacom’s Logo channel in the U.S., Finding Prince Charming is a gay reality competition format involving 13 potential suitors attempting to steal the heart of a charming and eligible single man.

Moritz Pohl, head of VOD content Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, added: “Finding Prince Charming is the first gay dating reality TV Show in Germany—and fits perfectly into the wide range of programs of TVNOW. As the ‘local hero of SVOD,’ we want to challenge our users with questions they usually don’t dare to ask—but we give the answers in a very entertaining and charming way.”

Elsewhere in the CEE/CIS region, Russian entertainment television channel Channel U acquired a second series of MTV’s global hit 16 and Pregnant for local audiences. The 10×90-minute episodes are currently in production and are scheduled to air in February 2020.
