The Los Angeles Superior Court has granted Paramount Global Content Distribution’s request for a temporary restraining order against Sony Pictures Television’s attempt to take over distribution for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!

“We’re pleased the court issued a temporary restraining order against Sony’s unlawful actions,” a spokesperson for Paramount Global Content Distribution said. “We will continue to seamlessly license Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! as both a completed show and local formats to our licensing clients like we have for over 40 years.”

Earlier this week, Sony Pictures Television, which produces Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!, sent a letter about its intent to take back global distribution of the programs due to alleged contract violations by CBS. The letter from Sony said that it terminated CBS’s distribution rights in August. A lawsuit was filed in October.

This new order from the courts means that Sony cannot attempt to take over distribution functions. The longtime contract between Paramount Global Content Distribution and Sony remains in place.
