New Entertainment Format to Focus on Fake News

HELSINKI: The Finnish producer Aito Media has unveiled a brand-new entertainment format, Fake News, which will ask celebrity contestants to decipher real news stories from fake ones.

In the format, celebrities will also be creating fake news of their own and telling stories from their lives. The format will be distributed in the global market by Small World IFT.

Fake News builds on a phenomenon highlighted by the past U.S. presidential elections,” said Ilkka Hynninen, the CEO of Aito Media. “It is getting increasingly hard to separate real news from fake news. The timing for our show is perfect.”

“The audience is addicted to bogus and totally fake news,” added Eero Hietala, the creative director and chairman of Aito. “We want to harness this addiction with a show that is at the same time entertaining but also exposes the way we consume media.”
