Mexico & Bulgaria to Adapt The Great Bake Off

LONDON: BBC Worldwide’s format The Great Bake Off has been picked up for local treatments in Bulgaria and Mexico.

Nova in Bulgaria and TV Azteca in Mexico have licensed The Great Bake Off, marking the format’s first sale to a Spanish-speaking country on free-to-air-TV. The Bulgarian version will be titled Bake Off: The Sweetest Competition and is set to premiere in prime time later this year. The Mexican version will debut in prime time on TV Azteca in early 2017. The competition format sees amateurs put their baking skills to the test.

From Love Productions, the format has been licensed into 23 countries, including Australia, France, Poland, South Africa, Brazil and Thailand.

BBC Worldwide is gearing up for MIPCOM with a total of 16 new formats to present to international buyers. !mpossible is a quiz show with a super-sized daily jackpot, from the co-creator of The Weakest Link. There is also the survival show Stupid Man, Smart Phone, and I Spy, which offers a snapshot of the world as seen through the eyes of children. BBC Worldwide is also offering Fishing Impossible and the scripted format Doctor Foster.
