Meet the Parents Format Being Localized in Finland

LONDON: The ITV Studios format Meet the Parents has been commissioned for local production in Finland by MTV3 for its SUB channel.

Produced by ITV Studios Finland, the ten-episode series will start filming next month and is scheduled to air later this year. Meet the Parents puts the romantic futures of a group of singletons into the hands of the people who know them best: their parents.

Pete Paavolainen, the CEO of ITV Studios Finland, said: “Meet the Parents is a really entertaining concept and, despite how much we might protest otherwise, nobody knows us better than our parents. We are delighted to be bringing this family-friendly show to Finland and are looking forward to seeing how our contestants cope with being placed in awkward situations by their mums and dads, in the hope that it might lead to love.”

Mike Beale, the executive VP of global development and formats for ITV Studios, said: “This commission follows quick on the heels of Germany and is great news for this exciting format. There was a real buzz about it when we launched it at MIPCOM last October, and we are now seeing the fruits of some of the discussions around it, as more territories are taking a greater interest.”
