Media Ranch is hosting another installment of its format incubator initiative Horsepower, teaming up again with season one partner Quebecor Content.

Horsepower is a French-Canadian format incubator initiative aimed at creating exportable unscripted TV formats from Québec. Participants are each tasked to develop an original format tailored to the needs of Quebecor Content and its various channels and are paired with seasoned global format professionals.

Season two launches at MIPCOM with a call for candidates, from all business sectors. Those interested should contact Media Ranch directly. Submissions are accepted now until November 15. Finalists will begin their fix-month work in January 2020.

Quebecor Content is also co-developing the season one-winning format titled Family Tripped.

Media Ranch’s founder, president and executive producer, Sophie Ferron, commented: “We’re presently here at MIPCOM closing a couple of deals on the winning format. Media Ranch is the go-to company for content creators and producers, attracting and fostering the best talent in the world. That’s one more reason why we’re so looking forward to Horsepower ‘s international edition that we’re discussing here as well. This has been a dream initiative, not only do we get to work with fresh creatives, we bring on top format professionals as mentors to develop some of the most interesting and unique formats ever. Quebecor Content has truly been a great partner for Horsepower 1.0 and now again, with 2.0 in Quebec, giving us both tremendous support and freedom to develop the best formats which we are taking around the world!”

Yann Paquet, VP of Quebecor Content, added, “Horsepower has made us discover new formats that are very promising, distinctive and of high quality. We are proud to contribute to the development of the talent of Quebec creators, in a perspective of international outreach.”
