Media Ranch has renewed its partnership with DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation) to represent the broadcaster’s entire unscripted formats catalog on an exclusive worldwide basis.

Since the launch of the partnership two years ago, Media Ranch has sold several of DR’s formats, some of which have been produced and broadcast. Media Ranch has optioned two DR formats in the U.S. to Figure 8 Films as well as added two new DR titles to its spring collection, in addition to four other new formats Media Ranch is debuting.

Figure 8 Films has optioned two DR formats from Media Ranch: Mom He’s a Dane, a reality program showing the challenges that immigrant families face in a new country, especially when dating local, outside of their own community (race, religion, creed, class); and Too Shy to Date, which uses VR technology to allow introverted singles to explore dating via their avatars and then meet for IRL.

Media Ranch is taking two new DR titles out to the world as formats this spring: Here’s Your Hit, a music entertainment program exploring what makes a hit, and What’s Your Problem?, a debate game show on what society finds offensive.

Tanya van der Goes, Media Ranch’s senior VP, said, “Media Ranch is thrilled to renew our complementary partnership with DR, we appreciate their confidence in us to represent them exclusively and globally. We’ve had a great run repping their fantastic programs such as Fish Bingo, recently optioned in the U.S. by JFL, and has just been nominated for an International Format Award. We are also excited that next to Big Love, Figure 8 has now acquired Mom, He’s a Dane and Too Shy to Date for the U.S. And we are looking forward to taking two more formats out to the world: Here’s Your Hit and What’s Your Problem?

DR Executive Director Noemi Ferrer said, “DR is pleased with the exceptional representation of Media Ranch with our prized IP. We trust them to find the right partners to produce our stellar programs. Their incomparable expertise in the Format sector has elevated our shows to new levels, and we look forward to a long and productive collaboration.”
