Married at First Sight U.K. is getting a makeover for 2021 ahead of its launch on E4, taking inspiration from the Australian version of the format.

The new U.K. series is set to be a bigger, more explosive take on the format, following a new group of singles in their search for love and marriage with complete strangers. Produced by the Red Arrow Studios company CPL Productions, Married at First Sight U.K. will see the couples make a lifelong commitment to one another—rather than legally wedding—at a glamorous ceremony.

After the ceremony and celebrations are over, love is put to the test as the couples embark on a honeymoon before moving in with each other—and their fellow couples. Relationships will be put under the microscope by the fellow brides and grooms at weekly dinner parties, as well as by the experts at recurring commitment ceremonies where couples choose whether they want to stay in or leave the process.

Lee McMurray, commissioning editor for factual entertainment at Channel 4, said: “I’m thrilled to be refreshing one of the portfolio’s most popular brands for E4, bringing extra scale and ambition to what is already one of the most audacious and provocative experiments on television and delivering what we hope will be the most exciting series yet.”

Murray Boland, executive producer for CPL, said: “It is so exciting to be starting afresh on a supersized version of such a pioneering and successful series.”
