ITV America Inks Overall Deal with Elan Gale

ITV America has signed an exclusive overall deal with longtime The Bachelor producer and FBoy Island creator Elan Gale and his TheYearOfElan Productions.

Gale will develop and produce unscripted projects featuring his character-driven storytelling and unique take on traditional reality fare. TheYearOfElan will produce content across various unscripted genres, including dating and relationship.

Gale’s team at TheYearOfElan includes Director of Development Laura Citren (formerly in development and production at Discovery) and Development Manager Tessa Stewart (previously manager of nonfiction television and alternative programming at 101 Studios).

Prior to forming TheYearOfElan—whose name is in reference to Seinfeld episode—Gale was an executive producer on The Bachelor and worked for more than a decade across 30 collective seasons of the franchise, its spin-offs and off-shoots. Since setting up his own company, he created FBoy Island for HBO Max and has been behind recent premieres such as the Taye Diggs-hosted Back in the Groove for Hulu, The One That Got Away and Cosmic Love for Amazon, and ABC’s Pooch Perfect with Rebel Wilson.

On the scripted side, Gale is a horror writer and producer, with credits on Midnight Mass and The Midnight Club for Netflix. He also served as an executive producer on Agnes and Lovely, Dark, and Deep.

“Creativity is what truly drives our business forward, even at a time when the industry seems to be all about the numbers,” said David George, CEO of ITV America. “No one approaches unscripted content like Elan. His creativity is always on display with every aspect of how he approaches his work. We look forward to unlocking his potential on a global level.”

Gale added, “ITV America is the perfect home for producers like us who want the creative freedom to push unscripted genres to their limits. This deal allows TheYearOfElan to expand our brand of ‘controlled chaos’ and ‘hybridized’ formats alongside a robust production and operations infrastructure. We have a growing slate of projects designed to deconstruct and reimagine tried-and-true unscripted formulas, and we’re excited to hit the marketplace with our partners at ITV.”
