FOX has commissioned The Snake, a “survival of the fittest” competition series to be hosted by comedian Jim Jefferies.
The Snake assembles 15 masters of manipulation from various professions to compete in an array of challenges. The winner of each challenge becomes the Snake, earning control of who gets to stay and who must leave.
Aside from the challenges, the contestants must work to win each other over. The ultimate winner earns a grand prize of $100,000.
The Snake is set to premiere this summer on FOX and stream the next day on Hulu.
The Snake is being produced by 495 Productions. SallyAnn Salsano (Jersey Shore, Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer) serves as executive producer and showrunner. Frank Miccolis and Kim Green also serve as executive producers.
The format is wholly owned by FOX Entertainment.
“SallyAnn brings her uniquely original voice to FOX with this fresh take on the strategy competition series and a universally appealing concept that will captivate audiences,” said Michael Thorn, president of FOX Television Network. “Trust me, The Snake lives up to its name.”
Jefferies commented, “I’m thrilled to be hosting The Snake—a show about making friends and faking friends. I’ve been training for this job my whole life. Growing up in Australia and now living in Hollywood, I’ve been around plenty of snakes.”
