Formagination & International Format Pitch Join Forces at MIPFormats

Armoza Formats and MIPFormats have entered into a partnership to bring Formagination at MIPFormats: The International Format Pitch to the event in Cannes, with the call for entries now open.

Formagination at MIPFormats: The International Format Pitch sees two major format launchpads— Formagination and MIPFormats International Pitch—join forces. Formagination at MIPFormats: The International Format Pitch seeks to identify early-stage ideas with the potential to succeed on international screens. It is open to all creators and producers from around the world, whether under the banner of a company or not. Entrants are encouraged to present their new and original, non-scripted entertainment formats. The projects will be pitched in Cannes to experts from Armoza Formats and representatives from top international broadcasters on the lookout for the next big entertainment format.

Selection will be based on four criteria: creativity, originality, innovation and potential for multiple seasons. The deadline for submissions is February 16 and the finalists will be announced in mid-March. Pitching in Cannes is scheduled for April 7. MIPFormats will be held April 7 to 8 ahead of MIPTV.

Armoza Formats is offering $5,000 to the winning pitch, and up to $20,000 in development funding toward the production of a pilot. The runner-up will win a scholarship to the international Entertainment Master Class seminar.

“In this changing world of TV, it’s more important than ever to create a platform to foster creativity and enable new voices to be heard in the industry,” said Avi Armoza, the CEO of Armoza Formats. “By partnering with the strongest marketplace for formats and content, we hope to create a launchpad for new formats on an international level. It is the chance to take our long-running, successful Formagination competition to the next level.”

“We are delighted that Armoza, a key player in the global formats business, has put its trust in MIPFormats, the only specialist conference for the international formats community, now in its ninth edition,” said Lucy Smith, the director of MIPFormats. “I’m very much looking forward to discovering the 2018 selection, which will provide a first glimpse of what’s coming next in the world of formats.”
