Comedian Miki Geva Wins Formagination 6

TEL AVIV: Israeli comedian Miki Geva has won first place at Armoza Formats’s sixth annual Formagination for his prime-time celebrity entertainment submission Fake or Real.

As the first-place winner, Geva receives a development and distribution contract with Armoza Formats and up to $30,000 to produce his format project. The runner-up was sexologist Dr. Shelly Varod, who pitched the social-experiment show Sex Tape and was awarded a scholarship to the Entertainment Master Class. Meanwhile, columnist Tomer On won the people’s vote with the factual-entertainment format I Don’t Know You, Dad.

Formagination was hosted by Odelia Yakir, a past winner and creator of the format Marry Me Now. The judging panel included Erik de Winter, the head of The Format Lab, the Netherlands; Zivit Davidovitch, the VP of content at Channel 10, Israel; Lucy Chen, the director of international business at Winhall Media, China; and Avi Armoza, the CEO of Armoza Formats, Israel. The competition was held at the Globes Marketing, Advertising & Digital Music convention in Tel Aviv, and followed on from a day of judging at the International Emmy Awards Semi-Final Round, also hosted by Armoza Formats.

Armoza commented: “Formagination 6 has once again demonstrated the importance of searching for fresh ideas both within and outside of the industry, especially in today’s changing market where innovation is increasingly crucial. We’re thrilled at the high quality of the pitches, which led to one of the toughest decisions we’ve ever had to make in this competition. We’re proud to be able to continue being the voice for Israeli creators in the international industry and we look forward to developing the winning format further.”
