Channel 5 has ordered an additional six episodes for a second season of the Rich House Poor House spin-off series Rich Holiday Poor Holiday.

Rich Holiday Poor Holiday treats two families or groups of friends in each episode to a whole new adventure. It follows as people with vastly different incomes swap holidays for a week. Sales of the format have been delayed due to travel bans and lockdown following COVID, although the finished series has already been sold to DPG Media/Medialaan in Belgium, TVNZ in New Zealand and Polsat in Poland.

Through Hat Trick International, Rich House Poor House, originally commissioned by Channel 5 in the U.K., has seen additional episodes for the format commissioned by Aito Media for Nelonen in Finland, ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany, SBS6 in the Netherlands and Polsat in Poland. The finished version will be watched in more than 109 countries, including ITV International, Asia, Africa, the Middle East; Foxtel:Lifestyle, Australia; DPG/Medialaan, Belgium; MTV Oy, Finland; AMC, Hungary; Sky Italia, Italy; SBS6, Netherlands; TVNZ, New Zealand and Polsat, Poland.

Sarah Tong, director of sales at Hat Trick International, commented, “Reality format Rich House Poor House continues to go from strength to strength. It’s a heart-warming and revealing series which works very well in many countries as it deals with the universal theme of whether money can guarantee happiness and it has been a fantastic success in the U.K. Once lockdown has fully lifted and families can return to holidaying, we look forward to finalizing sales of the format Rich Holiday Poor Holiday.”
