Fremantle and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) have signed a deal that sees a local Canadian version of the game show Family Feud.

Family Feud Canada will be hosted by actor and comedian Gerry Dee (Mr. D) and is set to launch on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service this December, airing four nights a week. The initial order is for 60 half-hour episodes.

The series premieres on December 16 at a special time of 8 p.m. on CBC and the CBC Gem streaming service, before moving to its regular time slot at 7:30 p.m. beginning December 23.

Fremantle will hold the distribution rights to the series.

Michela Di Mondo, senior VP for Canada, International, Fremantle, said: “We’re incredibly excited to introduce a local version of Family Feud into Canada with our fantastic partners at CBC. The format has been a huge global hit for many years, and we are thrilled families across Canada have a chance to participate. We look forward to watching all the laugh-out-loud moments this winter.”

Family Feud Canada will build on the success of Fremantle’s popular format by offering an opportunity for audiences to connect and celebrate with families from all across Canada,” said Sally Catto, general manager for programming at CBC. “We are looking forward to reflecting our country’s diverse range of experiences and perspectives with this fun glimpse into the lives of Canadians four nights a week.”
