Blue Ant Media Commissions Hoarders: Canada

Blue Ant Media has ordered Hoarders: Canada, an adaptation of the A+E Networks format Hoarders, to be produced by Saloon Media.

The Canadian adaptation marks the first-ever commission for the format outside of the U.S. It will see leading Canadian psychologists work in tandem with extreme cleanup experts to help individuals affected by compulsive hoarding.

Hoarders: Canada is set to premiere on Blue Ant Media’s speciality channel Makeful in late 2022. Michael Kot, Betty Orr and Pam Mcnair serve as executive producers alongside Franklin Cumberbatch and Peter Tarshis for A+E Networks. Series producer is Shannon McKinnon, while Deborah MacDanold is supervising producer.

“Blue Ant Media’s global makeup enables us to work with industry-leading partners to license and localize popular TV formats and give them homegrown voices,” said Sam Linton, VP and head of original content for Canadian media at Blue Ant Media. “We’re proud to be partnering with A+E Networks to bring this hit franchise to Canadians nationwide. Saloon Media’s track record of award-winning TV format series and documentaries makes them the perfect production partner for Hoarders: Canada.”

“We’re delighted to be involved with a franchise series as successful and long-standing as Hoarders,” said Michael Kot, managing director of Saloon Media. “In keeping with A+E Networks’ format, Hoarders: Canada will be shot documentary-style and with the utmost respect for those sharing their emotional stories.”

Ellen Lovejoy, senior VP of global content sales at A+E Networks, added, “We are excited to partner with Saloon Media and Blue Ant Media to bring the compelling format that is Hoarders to Canadian viewers. A+E Networks has a long history of creating successful long-running formats that are easily adaptable in the global marketplace.
