BBC Studios Taking Nation’s Dumbest Global

BBC Studios has secured international distribution rights for Montreux Film and Fjernsyn’s game-show format Nation’s Dumbest.

In Nation’s Dumbest, 12 celebrities fight it out to be eliminated from the competition as quickly as possible to avoid being crowned the nation’s dumbest. The contestants—ranging from influencers to wrestlers, comedians to politicians—are put to the test in a series of physical and mental rounds.

Norges Dummeste (Norway’s Dumbest) began airing on Norway’s public broadcaster TV 2 in August and has quickly become Norway’s most-watched TV show.

Matt Forde, managing director of global entertainment at BBC Studios, said, “Game and quiz show formats remain a staple in global schedules, and we’re thrilled to include Nation’s Dumbest in our MIPCOM slate. It’s part of a strong lineup of new and iconic titles we will present to commissioners and production partners in Cannes, as we continue to seek out and develop a portfolio of formats to meet the needs of every schedule and platform. We’re delighted to continue working with Montreux Film and Fjernsyn, and are confident buyers will love the appeal of Nation’s Dumbest as much as they have Weakest Link and The 1% Club.”
