LOS ANGELES: CBS Studios International and Discovery Networks have inked a format licensing pact for a Scandinavian version of America’s Next Top Model.

The new iteration will air across Norway, Denmark and Sweden later this year. The original America’s Next Top Model is under license in more than 100 markets, and there are 20 local versions of the format.

Scandinavia’s Next Top Model will be recorded in Lisbon and will be managed by a panel of three judges, who are well known in the fashion industry across the three different countries. The winner will receive a one-year contract with the London-based modeling agency MILK.

“We are excited to be offering viewers on both our streaming platform Dplay and our linear channels a contemporary and up-to-date Top Model season, with curvy and charismatic models as the focus,” said Lena Strandner, the head of formats and development at Discovery Networks. “The casting has just begun and we are overwhelmed by the response from strong, powerful girls wanting to be a part of this journey.”

“It’s been terrific working with Discovery Networks on Denmark’s Next Top Model and now we are thrilled to be working with them on a pan-Scandi version of the series,” said Paul Gilbert, the senior VP of international formats at CBS Studios International. “The global appeal of the Top Model franchise continues to grow, from established markets like the U.K., where the latest cycle was the most successful series ever on the Lifetime channel, to new markets like Mongolia, where we recently announced a two-season agreement with EduTV.”
