Video Interview: Sweetpea’s Ella Purnell

The six-episode adaptation of C.J. Skuse’s Sweetpea bowed on STARZ on October 10, with Ella Purnell (Fallout, Yellowjackets) taking the lead as Rhiannon Lewis, a wallflower who is often ignored by those around her. Continually overlooked for a promotion at work, ignored by the guy she likes and dealing with a very sick father, her life is anything but glamorous. When her dad dies, she is pushed over the edge and loses control, and the wallflower she once was disappears. She transforms into a woman who is capable of anything—including murder.

Purnell, who also executive produces the series, speaks with TV Drama Weekly about her behind-the-scenes role in the production, using the source material to shape her character and what she hopes viewers can take away from the darkly comedic drama.
