ARTE has acquired all three seasons of yes Studios’ Shtisel to stream on arte.tv beginning July 19.

The series follows the daily lives of the extended Shtisel family, an argumentative, ultra-Orthodox group living in modern-day Jerusalem. It stars Michael Aloni (The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem, 8200), Dovale Glickman (Oslo, Laces), Neta Riskin (Ghosts of Beirut, The Spy) and Shira Haas (Unorthodox, Night Therapy).

Shtisel was created and written by Ori Elon and Yehonatan Indursky. It became a global hit when it began streaming on Netflix in 2018. It also won 17 Israeli Academy Awards, including best drama series, best script, best actor and best actress.

“We are pleased to continue our collaboration with ARTE and are excited that Shtisel will be made available to audiences across France and Germany later this week,” said Sharon Levi, managing director at yes Studios. “With its endearing characters and fascinating look into everyday life in an ultra-Orthodox community, Shtisel continues to prove a hit wherever it is shown. It tends to quickly develop a strong local fan base, with most viewers keen to binge watch this addictive TV series. We are confident that this experience will be repeated with this latest deal and look forward to seeing how well it performs on arte.tv.”
