The suspense thriller Long Bright River, which is part of Series Mania’s International Competition, has notched up sales across North America, Latin America, the Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.
Series star Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!) is in Lille to launch the show to the global market with Sony Pictures Television. Based on Liz Moore’s New York Times best-selling novel, Long Bright River tells the story of Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. When a series of murders begins in the neighborhood, Mickey realizes that her personal history might be related to the case.
Following its premiere in the U.S. on Peacock, the series rolled out across Canada (Crave and USA Network), Australia (Stan), South Korea (LG Uplus), Hong Kong (Now TV) and Israel (DBS). New deals have been sealed to bring the drama to Channel 4 (U.K.), Quebecor Content (French-speaking Canada), Max (Latin America, France, Central and Eastern Europe, Poland), Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ (New Zealand), BS10 STAR CHANNEL (Japan), RTÉ (Ireland), Movistar Plus+ (Spain), AXN (Portugal), TimVision (Italy), VRT (Flemish-speaking Belgium), BETV (Belgium), Nova (Greece) and beIN (Turkey, MENA).
“Long Bright River is the limited series that buyers are looking for right now—it’s got huge star power and propulsive storytelling that culminates in a satisfying conclusion,” said Mike Wald, co-president of distribution and networks at Sony Pictures Television. “It has been extremely well-received since we debuted at the LA Screenings this past May and has already been sold, or is close to being sold, in nearly every territory.”
