I Am Mother Sells in Spanish-Speaking World

Eccho Rights has licensed the Turkish drama series I Am Mother to broadcasters in Colombia, Chile, Panama and Spain.

Colombia’s Caracol, Chile’s Canal 13, Panama’s TVN and Spain’s leading broadcaster have picked up the series, which centers on a woman in an unhappy, abusive marriage. After giving birth to their third child, she sends her 3-year-old son to Istanbul to stay with her mother, but on the journey there, he goes missing. Three years later, she is reunited with him, but he doesn’t recognize her anymore and goes by a different name.

I Am Mother is produced by O3 Medya. The cast is led by Özge Özpirinçci and Demet Akbağ, who are joined in the second season by Engin Öztürk (My Home My Destiny, Fatmagül) and Nesrin Cavadzade (My Wonderful Life, Forbidden Fruit).

“We are thrilled to see I Am Mother gaining ground in LatAm—we now have the series dubbed into Spanish and are seeing the interest for the title grow rapidly across the region,” said Handan Özkubat, director of Turkish drama at Eccho Rights. “The powerful narrative and strong performances in I Am Mother have resonated deeply with audiences in Turkey and are now taking off around the world!”
