Last week, news came through that Prime Video picked up a second season of the biblical drama series House of David. Season one, which debuted in late February in more than 240 territories globally, garnered 22 million viewers in the first 17 days and ranks in the top ten new series debuts in the U.S. to date.
House of David tells the story of the ascent of the biblical figure David, who eventually becomes the most renowned and celebrated king of Israel. Season two will follow the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David’s rise to the throne, with Michael Iskander reprising the title role.
The series comes from filmmakers and Wonder Project creative leaders Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution, American Underdog) and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), who are returning as directors, writers and executive producers. Erwin takes TV Drama Weekly behind the scenes of the series, discussing the rise of faith- and values-driven, high-quality storytelling in today’s entertainment landscape.
