ChaiFlicks has acquired the rights to new dramas from Israel’s yes Studios, including Unsilenced, which recently won several Israeli Television Academy Awards.

Unsilenced, based on the novel The Confidante and inspired by real events, follows a newly elected Israeli president who is rumored to have sexually assaulted and raped a staffer. As his team tries to prevent the allegations from leaking, more women step forward to corroborate the accounts of his behavior.

Unsilenced was created by Avraham Shalom Levi, Tamar Marom Moish Goldberg and Einat Zilber Damari and produced by Great Productions. It won best drama series at the Israeli Television Academy Awards this past spring, as well as leading actress, actor, supporting actor, directing and screenplay. It will become available on the streamer in September.

ChaiFlicks also picked up The Chef, an award-winning series created by Erez Kavel and Orit Dabush and produced by Kastina Communications. It centers on an unemployed high-tech worker who stars working in the kitchen of a prestigious restaurant run by a brilliant chef, who is struggling to stay relevant and keep his place at the top of the ultra-competitive culinary world. The series explores toxic masculinity and the fragility of the male ego through the two leading characters. It will land on ChaiFlicks in December.

Also coming to the Jewish streamer is Just for Today, which won the special jury prize at Series Mania and best series at the Zurich Film Festival. From Nir Bergman (HBO’s In Treatment), the title is set in a halfway home for recently released prisoners that is facing permanent closure. The former prisoners face a dramatic crossroads in their lives—will they be able to integrate back into society or will they be thrown back into their previous lives? It also explores the perspectives of a social worker and current manager of the group home, who must try to prevent the shutting down of her life’s work while contending with the reemergence of a former ward and flame. Viewers will be able to stream the title in early 2025.

In addition, ChaiFlicks picked up the fourth season of the hit comedy Checkout, produced by July August Productions. The series takes place in the Yavne branch of the fictional supermarket Shefa Isaschar and follows the routine interactions between the store’s workers and its customers. When it debuted in 2020 in Israel, it received a nomination at the International Emmy Award and ten nominations at the Israeli Television Academy Awards. In 2021, it was nominated for 13 Israeli Television Academy Awards. The new season will head to the Jewish streamer in November.

ChaiFlicks is now available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K.

“Our team at ChaiFlicks continues to scour the world for the best Jewish programming available, and we’re thrilled to add these critically acclaimed series from our partners at yes Studios,” said Neil Friedman, co-founder of ChaiFlicks. “Checkout, starring Noa Koler, has been one of our most popular series at ChaiFlicks since it first debuted, and we can’t wait to make the fourth season available to our global subscribers, as well as these other phenomenal, award-winning drama series.”
