Turner, Two Way Media in IPTV Gaming Deal

LONDON, June 4: Turner
Broadcasting has appointed British interactive company Two Way Media to create
16 games over the next two years for BT Vision’s IPTV platform, based on kids’
properties like Ben 10 and Scooby
Doo
.

The games will be based around
Turner kids’ shows on Cartoon Network and Boomerang such as Ben 10, Camp Lazlo, Scooby Doo and Tom
& Jerry
.

Turner Broadcasting has
worked with Two Way Media since 2003. Earlier this year, the two companies
announced a number of interactive TV games and services on Virgin cable for
Turner’s entire portfolio of British kids’ channels: Cartoon Network,
Boomerang, Cartoonito and Cartoon Network Too.

Ian McClelland, the
director of digital media for EMEA at Turner Broadcasting, commented, “The
games that we have created with Two Way Media for cable have been a great
success and we are really looking forward to expanding our reach to new
audiences on IPTV. We feel that such strong branded games will perform well on
BT Vision and prove to be a valuable addition to the service.”

Jean de Fougerolles, the
chief executive of Two Way Media, added, “It is fantastic to be able to work
with Turner Broadcasting and create a broad raft of cutting-edge IPTV games
based around well-known cartoon characters. BT Vision is a great way of
reaching new audiences, and we look forward to extending Turner’s games onto
other IPTV platforms.”

Marc Watson, the
commercial director of TV services at BT Vision, concluded: “Genuine
interactivity powered by our broadband network offers so many compelling
possibilities for entertainment. On-demand TV is a huge advance and we are
committed to building on that with further market-leading interactive services
linked to programming. We know that our customers will love games that include
their favorite TV characters and are easy to access. We’re very much looking
forward to working with Turner and Two Way Media to develop this aspect of BT
Vision.”
