Turner Takes truTV to Asia

HONG KONG: Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific is adding to its portfolio of channels in the region with the upcoming launch of truTV in early 2010.

Available in more than 90 million U.S. homes, truTV features unscripted programming and primarily targets those aged 29 to 39. The news of truTV’s Asian launch follow’s Turner’s recently acquisition of the entertainment and lifestyle channels MONDO 21 and Tabi Channel in Japan.

"truTV offers a unique brand of entertainment with real people living real lives," said Ian Carroll, the executive VP of Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific. "It’s television at its most personal and uncensored. For viewers who enjoy exciting real-life stories told from a dramatic first-person perspective, truTV will provide front row seats to the drama as it unfolds. As with our new channels in Japan, the truTV launch represents our ongoing investment to expand our networks in Asia and reflects Turner’s commitment to deliver high-quality, well-packaged and compelling content. We’re confident that this channel will develop a significant viewer base in Asia, as it has done in the U.S."
