LONDON: Turner Broadcasting has named Anthony Lukom as VP and general manager for the U.K. and Ireland, to lead the company’s entire entertainment business, including Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Adult Swim.

Lukom joined Turner in May 2010 as acting general manager. Previously, he was the managing director for MySpace UK and the head of business development for Europe. Before this, he held a number of roles at AOL Europe.

In his new role at Turner, Lukom is responsible for all commercial and channel activity. He will lead the strategy across programming, digital, ad sales, licensing, marketing and creative services. Lukom will also helm content syndication.

Lukom said: “Turner Broadcasting is one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking media companies in the business, and the opportunity to head up its entire U.K. division is one I am delighted to accept. Turner is a company which has long recognized and capitalized upon changes in the media landscape, originally as a pioneer in the cable business and right now as a leading player in the development of TV Everywhere services. As the boundaries between being a media owner and a digital distributor blur, Turner Broadcasting is an exciting place to be in this age of convergence.”

Pete Flamman, the senior VP and general manager for Northern Europe at Turner Broadcasting, added: “Anthony brings with him a wealth of experience and is expertly placed to successfully navigate our business through a multiplatform media landscape, meeting both consumer needs and our business objectives. Full of energy and enthusiasm, Anthony gets results, and will be an exceptionally inspiring figurehead for our business across the U.K. and Ireland.”
