Tricon Scores Sales Across Factual Slate

TORONTO: A raft of deals have been signed across Tricon Films & Television’s factual catalogue, which includes series such as Marriage Under Construction and Fresh with Anna Olson.

The second season of documentary series Marriage Under Construction has been acquired by The Home Channel in Africa and Poland’s Canal+, and the first season went to Chello Media in Central Europe, alongside a deal for cookery series Fresh with Anna Olson, which is heading to XYZ in Australia. Marriage Under Construction is a docu-soap that follows the lives of a married couple purchasing their first home, for the first time. Fresh with Anna Olson features the host of Food Network’s Sugar and Kitchen Equipped as she prepares three recipes for special local events.

In Asia, Original Kin, which follows three different adult adoptees in their search for their biological parents, has been acquired by AETN, while cooking-based series Crash My Kitchen, a culinary makeover show, went to Discovery Asia. Restaurant Makeover, which challenges two top restaurateurs to re-launch local restaurants, was picked up by Asian Food Channel as well as Ananey in Israel. Beautiful People, centered on an elite club where hopefuls are voted in by an exclusive membership based on their looks, was snapped up by Claxon’s Lifestyle Channel in Latin America, while Matchmaker, featuring friends hooking up friends on dates, went to Finland’s Nelonen and Living the Life, which surprises people with a trip they will never forget, to AB Groupe.

Carrie Mudd, the VP of development and international sales for Tricon, said: “There continues to be a huge appetite for lifestyle and factual-entertainment series internationally as these sales show. We’re very pleased to have signed a number of sales across our slate at MIPTV. As our established series continue to thrive we also had a great response to our new factual entertainment and documentaries at the market and look forward to announcing further deals soon.”
