Toei, Elastic Rights Close Spanish Broadcast Deals for Pretty Cure

TOKYO, June 15: Toei Animation and the Spanish brand
management company Elastic Rights have sold the first two seasons of the animated
series Pretty Cure to three broadcasters
in Spain: Jetix, Cuatro, and Clan TVE.

Jetix has acquired the pay-TV rights for Pretty Cure, for a scheduled run from June 25 through September
8. Cuatro has secured the free- TV
rights for the series, and has scheduled an early July premiere for the second
run of both seasons. Clan TVE has acquired the free DTT rights for the series,
for premiere June 28.

Pretty Cure debuted
in Japan in February 2004. The brand has already generated over $800 million in retail in Japan through its
lines of toys, apparel, stationary, figures, video games, snacks and foods,
card games, publishing, DVDs and more. It follows two girls in the eighth grade
who are granted the power to transform into superheroes called "Cure
Black" and "Cure White" thus becoming the guardians of planet
Earth. Using their super powers, the two girls work together to battle the evil
enemies sent to conquer Earth by Dotsuku Zone.

in the Spanish market,” said Kanji Kazahaya, the director of the international
department at Toei Animation. “The popularity of this brand continues to build,
attracting new generations of fans, which is the hallmark of a successful
evergreen property.”
