Netflix has ordered the eight-episode comedy series The Four Seasons from Universal Television, with Tina Fey set to star.

The series will be based on the 1981 feature film of the same name, which was written and directed by Alan Alda. Fey co-created the series adaptation with Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, who she collaborated with on 30 Rock.

Fey, Netflix and Universal Television previously worked together to launch the Emmy-nominated series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Season three of her comedy series Girls5eva, created by Meredith Scardino, is slated to premiere on Netflix on March 14.

Fisher co-created Never Have I Ever, which ran for four seasons on Netflix. Wigfield created Great News and Saved by the Bell.

The Four Seasons will begin production later this year, with Fey, Fisher, Wigfield, David Miner, Eric Gurian and Jeff Richmond executive producing. Alda and Marissa Bregman will produce. Universal Television is the producing studio. Fey’s Little Stranger, Inc. is the production company.
