The History Channel to Launch on Telenet Belgium

NEW YORK/LONDON/BELGIUM,
April 18: The History Channel UK, a joint venture between A&E Television
Networks (AETN) and BSkyB, will launch The History Channel in Belgium on
Telenet on May 1.

The History Channel in
Belgium is an extension of the network’s recently announced service in the
Benelux. It will be offered through Telenet’s Family Pack and Entertainment
& Lifestyle Pack. Plans also call for programs from the network to be
offered via Telenet’s video on demand service. In Belgium, The History Channel
will be broadcast in English and subtitled in Dutch. The channel will also be
available in the Netherlands on cable operator UPC, debuting later in Q2
2007.

“We are excited about our
launch on the Telenet platform not only because this is our first service in
the Benelux region, but also because it will be accompanied by our first VOD
service outside of the U.K.,” said Ian McDonough, the commercial director of
The History Channel UK.
