The Africa Channel Slates HD Launch

LOS ANGELES: On August 1, The Africa Channel will be made available in HD in select markets in the U.S.

The HD version of the channel will feature original programming that features a variety of entertainment- and information-oriented genres, including film, talk, music, travel, history and comedy. Some of the highlight offerings include African Ancestry, African Literary Giants, Inside Egypt and Conversations with Felicia.

“In keeping with the technological advancements in television, The Africa Channel wants to meet the growing needs and desires of our audience by providing them with the high quality viewing experience that HD programming has to offer—besides, Africa looks great in HD!” said Bob Reid, the executive VP and general manager of the network. “As part of our HD launch, we are also proud to announce the premiere of an exciting new lineup of original series and specials.”
