TF1 Sees 50-Percent Profit Boost

PARIS: Net profit for the first half of the year at TF1 increased by 51 percent to 74 million euros, on revenues that were up by 14 percent to 1.28 billion euros.

Advertising revenues at the flagship channels showed an 11 percent recovery to 765 million euros. Other revenues were up by 17 percent to 520 million euros, led by gains at Eurosport International as well as a 33 million euros contribution from the resale of World Cup rights. This year’s football tournament did however contribute to an increase in programming expenses at TF1, which rose to 483 million euros. Excluding one-time sports events, TF1 achieved programming cost savings of 33 million euros.

For the full year, TF1 is forecasting revenues of 2.5 billion euros, a 7-percent increase on 2009.
