Televisa Releases Q2 Results

MEXICO CITY, July 18:
Revenues at Grupo Televisa for the second quarter gained 17.4 percent to Ps.
11.5 billion ($1.1 billion), delivering a consolidated net income of Ps. 2.3
billion ($227.7 million), reflecting a 4-percent increase on the year-ago
period.

Majority interest profit,
however, fell 8.6 percent to Ps. 1.8 billion ($180.4 million).

Television broadcasting
revenues, making up 44.9 percent of Televisa’s business, delivered revenues of
Ps. 5.3 billion, a 3.9-percent increase. Revenues from pay-TV networks gained
14.2 percent to reach Ps. 514.7 million, accounting for 4.4 percent of the
business. Programming export revenues fell 4.6 percent to Ps. 571.2 million.
Publishing revenues were up 13.8 percent to Ps. 927.3 million. Revenues from
Sky gained 8.5 percent to Ps. 2.3 billion, while cable and telecoms brought in
Ps. 1.4 billion, a whopping 133.2-percent gain. Publishing distribution
revenues, meanwhile, were down 7.2 percent to Ps. 122.1 million.

All but two of Televisa’s
divisions posted gains in operating income: programming exports’ profit fell
9.1 percent to Ps. 265 million, while publish distribution saw income fall 72.3
percent to Ps. 4.6 million.
