Televisa Highlights L.A. Screenings Slate

MEXICO CITY: Televisa Internacional will be launching the new telenovela Love Spell at next week’s L.A. Screenings, with further offerings such as the reality show Hazme Reír and a slate of acquisitions from Pol-ka, Ideas del Sur and Mediamates.

Love Spell lets views witness the transformation of a man who is driven by ambition to the point where he plans his brother’s death to become the heir to his fortune. Also in Televisa’s novela catalogue, Dare to Dream follows a sweet girl who is on an adventure to pursue her dreams: to meet her father, become a famous singer and conquer her first love. Summer of Love revolves around a group of teens who will share a summer together, when a new life begins, new friends are made and new loves are conquered, all changing their lives forever.

Among the formats that Televisa will present is the reality show Hazme Reír. The show watches as the best comedians of the country compete against one another on stage. Nine teams participate, each made up of three contender—a famous comedian, a high-profile celebrity and an illustrious stranger—whom each week will face a number of challenges and improvise on the spot. The singing and dancing competition The Show of Dreams is divided into two stages and a grand finale. The first and second place winners of each stage will compete in the grand finale, where only one team will win a million dollars. Other contests on offer from Televisa are Hit the Bottom and Clippers. Hit the Bottom is a contest where players will need to answer video questions correctly as they are submitted to all kinds of pranks. In Clippers, contestants will produce various videos of different topics that will compete on the web. The producer of the video with the most votes on the web will have the opportunity to compete against professional producers in a studio. Another reality offering is Adventures through Mexico, which watches Jaime Camil and Javier Poza embark on a trip though different states in Mexico on their motorcycles.

Televisa will also present a slate of recent acquisitions from Pol-ka, Ideas del Sur and Mediamates. The Pol-ka telenovela The Brave Ones tells the story of three brothers who were separated during childhood and are reunited after many years to avenge the death of their father, who died in poverty after an ambitions man took over all of his properties. Ideas del Sur’s telenovela Attraction x 4 spotlights two very different families: three sisters and their father who have little money, and three brothers and their stepmother who have lots of money. Killer Women, the Mexican adaptation of Mujeres Asesinas produced by Mediamates, looks at crimes that were motivated by unrequited love, exacerbated jealousy and temporary madness.
