Additionally, Telemundo opened its own studio in 2007 and
produced the novela El Engaño, which is
scheduled to air in the first quarter of 2008. This is the first novela to be
produced by a foreign company in Mexico. The network also premiered its first
novela shot in high-definition, Zorro, which became one of Telemundo’s most successful novelas, averaging
1,150,000 total viewers over the course of its entire run. In December 2007,
800,000 adults 18 to 49 tuned in to the premiere of Victoria, making it the network’s highest-rated novela
premiere for the year. Telemundo also launched other prime-time programming,
such as Al Rojo Vivo Weekend, the
late-night talk show Mas Vale Tarde
and the dating show 12 Corazones.

Among adults 18 to 49, Telemundo aired the top two movies of
the year, four of the top five, seven of the top 10 and 15 of the top 20 films
on Saturday night. Among total viewers, Telemundo broadcast the top four movies
in 2007, nine of the top 10 and 17 of the top 20 titles this year. In 2007,
Telemundo’s 10 Mexican National Team’s Rumbo Al Mundial games averaged more than 80 percent higher than the
2006 average among adults 18 to 49—1,383,000 versus 767,000 viewers.
