Telefe Scores China Novela Deal

BUENOS AIRES: Shanghai Media Group has signed on to co-produce with Telefe International and Spain’s DOT a Chinese version of the telenovela Heartbeat.

Production begins in July on a 40-episode first season. Announcing the format deal, Alejandro Parra, director of Telefe International, noted: “Telefe International manages to conquer one of the most important markets in the world for its sheer volume, such as China. We believe this is the beginning of our relationship with Shangai Media Group, because other projects such as the adaptation of our successful telenovela Montecristo are under evaluation.

Telefe International has also unveiled its new programming highlights for this year, which include Secrets of Love, a co-production between Telefe and On TV; the new season of Teenangels, called The Resistance; WAGs, Love for the Game, from Endemol, Underground and Telefe; and Everybody Against Juan, 3, 2, 1, Let’s Win and Just in Time.
