Target Closes Latin American, Canadian Deals

NEW YORK, January 13: Target Entertainment Group has sold a number of packages to broadcasters in Latin America and Canada, totaling more than 60 hours and spanning formats, factual and entertainment shows.

MTV Latin America picked up season six of the dating format Next, while Discovery Latin America took on season five of Ten Years Younger. Discovery also acquired Glamour UK’s Best Dressed 2008. TBSLA, meanwhile, bagged the BBC travel and adventure series Kick Ass Miracles and lifestyle series Chubby Children.

In Canada, OUTTV picked up Wisecrack, along with three one-offs: Gender Rebel, Camp Out and Gay Muslims. Game TV acquired the factual series Cops, Cars and Superstars and The Ultimate Gambler. Game TV also took on the two-part Double or Nothing and factual entertainment series Million Pound Hoax. W Network went for Extreme Celebrity Rehab and Extreme Celebrity Mums, and TVO scooped up After the Deluge.

"I’m delighted to be able to announce these deals," said Ellen Lovejoy, Target’s senior VP of sales and acquisitions for U.S. (East Coast), Latin America and Canada. "The fact that they span broadcasters in both North and South America is indicative of the strength of Target’s slate and the broad range of programming in our catalogue."
