Taffy Entertainment Inks French Deal for Anime Series

PARIS, June 18: Taffy
Entertainment has licensed the anime series Bleach to French network MCM for
premiere in France this September.

The anime series premiered in September 2006 on Cartoon
Network in the U.S. Based on the best-selling manga serialized in Shonen
Jump
and published by Shueisha,
Bleach
is centered on a 15-year-old named Ichigo Kurosaki, who was born with the
ability to see ghosts. When his family is attacked by a Hollow—a
malevolent lost soul—Ichigo encounters a Soul Reaper and absorbs her
powers. Now, he dedicates his life to protecting the innocent and helping
tortured souls find peace. The TV series is produced by TV Tokyo, Dentsu
and Studio Pierrot.

The Bleach title has
produced 28 volumes to date, selling more than 42 million copies in Japan
alone. It has already been translated into a number of languages and has
achieved immense success in Japan as both a manga and TV title.

Bleach is destined
to be one of those classic TV series that draws viewers of all ages and takes
them on a thrill ride every time,” said Lionel Marty, the president of
worldwide distribution for Taffy Entertainment.
“After watching just one episode you will be hooked by its exceptional storyline.
I’m sure French audiences will embrace the show and its teenage hero for many
years to come.”

The French-language home-distribution rights to the show are
held by KAZE.
