Super Bowl Records 93.15 Million Viewers

BURBANK, February 6: The Super Bowl on CBS on Sunday
averaged 93.15 million viewers, making it the second most-watched Super Bowl
ever and helping Criminal Minds,
broadcast immediately after the event, to a series high of 26.23 million
viewers.

CBS’s coverage of the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears
game scored an average rating/share of 42.6/64, up 2 percent on last year. It
was the highest-rated Super Bowl since 2000. The Sunday telecast was also the
third most watched program in television history behind the series finale of M*A*S*H and Super Bowl XXX in 1996. Nielsen Media Research
estimates that 139.8 million viewers watched all or part Super Bowl XLI.

Criminal Minds,
broadcast at 10:30 p.m. following the Super Bowl, recorded 26.23 million
viewers with 15.0 rating and a 26 share. It averaged 11.2 in adults 25-54, 9.9
in adults 18-49 and 8.4 in adults 18-34. This was the show’s best delivery ever
in households, viewers and key demos. The show, from Touchstone Television and
distributed worldwide by Buena Vista International Television, has emerged as
one of CBS’s biggest drama hits in its sophomore season.
