NEW YORK: Quirky, a new non-fiction series about a website that helps inventors turn their ideas into real products, has been added to the Sundance Channel’s schedule.

The six-episode series, launching August 30, focuses on Quirky.com, a product development company founded by 24-year-old entrepreneur Ben Kaufman. Each episode chronicles Quirky’s design and engineering experts as they mine through idea submissions from around the world in order to select two that will be developed into actual products.

Quirky will bring viewers the inspiring stories of 12 people with invention ideas ranging from a mother with an all-in one pasta strainer, to a former paralegal in Pennsylvania and her two-tiered BBQ tray, to a copywriter and father in Kansas City who added a "twist" to the ordinary can opener with "Can Do."

It is produced by Sharp Entertainment with Matt Sharp and Ben Kaufman as executive producers and Marco Bresaz as executive producer for the Sundance Channel.

"Quirky depicts a very modern way to pursue the American dream," said Sarah Barnett, the executive VP and general manager of the Sundance Channel. "Ben Kaufman and the community of Quirky.com are using technology not only to revolutionize the product development process but also to create a platform that unleashes both our individual imaginations and collective power. Celebrating how creativity flourishes outside conventional avenues is something distinct to our programming."
