Sundance Announces Block Devoted to Environmental Issues

NEW YORK, July 20: Early next year, Sundance Channel will
launch a weekly three-hour prime-time programming block serving up content on
environmental issues.

“Once in awhile forces converge and affect social change,”
said Robert Redford, the channel’s founder. “For some, this can be unsettling,
for others, a time for optimism and new opportunity. For Sundance Channel, this
is one of those times. Sundance Channel Green is a new initiative and a chance to play some part in making a
difference in the world."

Sundance Channel Green
will include the original series Change Agents, about the people and projects that are on the front
lines of environmental sustainability. There will also be interstitial series
highlighting a range of environmental issues and offering viewers tips for
greener living. Sundance will also be acquiring feature-length documentaries
and news specials on environmental subjects.

Aside from the linear block, there are plans for an
“ECO-MMUNITY” portal on the Sundance Channel website, and the network aims to
make its Green content available via
VOD, online download and wireless. Titles will also be produced and acquired
for these platforms, including short films, behind-the-scenes or "making
of" footage, and exclusive "extended" footage.
